Interview with "AD21" Shop staff
An anniversary doll "Courtney Tez by NIKE" was this exhibition' s highlight.
A very NIKE like art display, an image of "Courtney Tez" was exhibited at a NIKE' S direct shop "AD21" in Harajyuku. We interviewed with shop staffs, Mr.Ebara and Mr. Kurio about the collaboration of NIKE and Blythe.
-What did you think when you saw a Blythe wearing NIKE outfits?
Ebara: It immediately made me understand why Blythe fans want to collect them. The elaboration in details, such as SWOOSH put everywhere and her changeable outfits must be irresistible for Blythe fans.
Kurio: Her NIKE clothes and shoes were faithful reproductions.I was surprised at how well they were ableto duplicate them.
-What about the diorama exhibition?
Ebara: I think it was nice since we could exhibit them in a different way from the one at SPIRAL.
Kurio: Professional Stylists and hair& makeup artist took a long time to style "Courtney Tez" . I think that this will be an inspiration for Blythe fans.
-How did people react at AD21?
Ebara: I was impressed to see Blythe fans seeing the display keenly with their favorite Blythes. People who saw Blythe for the first time were curiously seeing the display of NIKE Blythe
Kurio: Blythe fan came here from all over Japan and the exhibition was well received. We sold the same NIKE shoes in other colors a lot. Blythe fans were enthusiastic and I think there are something common between Blythe fans and NIKE fans.
The diorama-maker said. " It took me about two weeks. This Blythe was sporty and not like other Blythes I have seen before. It seemed that she was good at sports and I thought that she should not be too girly-girly to match NIKE outfit, so I styled her this way. Thanks to the great stylists who have done Blythe' s hair and outfits, she became much cuter."
