Vol.001 Theme: The Radiance Blythe Dec. 22, 2006

In 2006, a new mold was created called "The Radiance". This mold took almost 12 months to complete. The purpose of this mold was to create a face that was as close as possible to the original 1972 vintage Blythe designed by Alison Katzman. Since the rebirth of Blythe in 2001, three different molds have been created. In the beginning the molds were sculpted by hand. For the Radiance mold lasers were used to scan the vintage head and diagrams were created to make the mold.

The original vintage doll was sculpted by Alison Katzman. The eye holes were slightly different on the right and the left but these little imperfections add to the charm of the vintage doll.

Similarly the Radiance Blythe has her little imperfections. But she is very close to the original vintage doll and her charming and charismatic features will grow on you as you play with her. Please take a look at the photos of "Darling Diva" , "Last Kiss" and "Yukinonamida Hime" all made with "The Radiance" mold. I believe she is beautiful. And she wants to be loved by you!

As a final note, in Japan there is a way of looking at aesthetics called, "Wabi Sabi". It describes beauty as "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". Viewing life in this way can deliver feelings of serenity and spiritual longing. It is the source of what is truly beautiful and the idea that you can find beauty in everything that exists in this world.
