Collaborator's Message

Here is the interview with Masako Shinya, the designer of "ahcahcum" and "muchacha"!

Q: What policy and philosophy do you have when you design?
My all time policy is to make designs everyone and myself happy and fun.
Q: Do muchacha's clothes and accessories have a common concept?
I love stuff with eyes. I think things become alive when I put eyes on them. That is one of muchacha's concepts. Also, I came from Osaka city, where people are known to be funny and like jokes. So I want to make everyone laugh with my whimsical design.
Q: Your clothes and accessories always have unique drawings and motifs. When do you come up with the design?
Constantly. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even when I am sleeping!
Q: When did you meet Blythe?
It was when Blythe made her debut in Japan at Parco. I made a bag with a big Blythe banner for the Parco event. I am so happy that I finally have the chance to design Neo and Petite Blythe!
Q: What makes you attracted to Blythe?
Her body ratio, shape of her face, big eyes and tiny feet...I actually love everything about her.
Q: Has Blythe ever inspired you when you design clothes?
I love vintage Blythe dolls. I think her skin and outfit textures are incredible. If I will ever have another chance to design a doll, next time I will design a vintage and antique style doll.
Q: Tell us the concept of PBL "muchacha zukin" and NBL "ahcahcum zukin."
I would like the design to reflect happiness and fun.
Q: Is there anything you have a difficulty with when you design the dolls?
Since Blythe is so tiny, the silhouette and fabric we can apply to the design is very limited. But I think I can play around more than when I design clothes for human because of how small it is!
Q: Are there any particular details about them that you like?
ahcahcum zukin's fabric! Because it uses our original brand fabric and flower embroidery ribbon. I also love her tiny leopard print shoes because I love to collect shoes. muchacha zukin's hood is also very cute! They are the apple of my eye.
Q: What did you think when you finished making the dolls?
I fall in love with them everytime I see them. They are too cute!
Q: Any message to Blythe and muchacha and ahcahcum fans?
Be inspired by Blythe!
