The Blythe Experience

Alice in Blytheland in Marui One Shinjuku July.2008

"What would happen if Alice visited Blythe's world?"

In the Spring of 2008 a selection of ten popular gothic/lolita/punk brands have come together to create original Blythe dolls with the theme, "What would happen if Alice visited Blythe's world?". The event was held at a store in Marui One Shinjuku, called "Onejuku".

The gothic/ punk magazine "KERA" was also a part of the event The representative from KERA magazine is none other than Miyuki Odani, who creates work using candy and snack motifs.
"Emilia is lost" is about a spoiled girl named Emilia who can't stand to hear her mother's voice. She complains about her food and doesn't even want to spend time with her friends! The story unfolds as Emilia is warmly welcomed into Blythe's world. Blythe was styled with that story being the theme of the doll.

The piece created by Onejuku" was very original! Recreating the tea party scene of Alice in Wonderland and even making an army out of a deck of cards, a merry-go-round that it is on the border of space and time, and a punk Blythe hanging out with punk pandas! It was truly a strange and compelling world. (All the dolls that have been exhibited in the show will be a part of a charity auction in the spring of 2009, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to charity.)
