| A opening party for "My Blythe a Photo Contest" was held on December 6, 2002. The event site, with 80 final photos was full of Blythe fans who came from all over Japan, Hong Kong and Korea, CWC was very crowded like a packed train. Gina Garan and Cartoonist Ai Yazawa joined the party as guests. They had a good time talking with Blythe fans and taking photos with them. |

She received a special Blythe styled by Gina as the prize. Gina asked her to take pictures of this Blythe. Blythe fans were looking on her with envy.
" I am a novice at photography. I am very happy since many people offered me congratulations today. I wanted to make this photo as if Blythe was walking in the woods. At the beginning, she didn' t have the birdcage in her hand but it seemed that something was missing, so I just put the birdcage I found at home and it was perfect! I didn' t think about it but many people told me that this photo looks like " Hansel and Gretel" . I first saw Blythe in PARCO' s TV commercial. I love her scary-cuteness. Now I have nine Blythes. The hardest thing about taking pictures of Blythe is making her to stand at a desired place. Winds always dishevel her hair as well. I will think about what kind of picture I want to take with this Blythe I received today. As she has pink hair, I want to take cute pictures." |

Gina' s Choice

She raced to the event from Fukuoka. " I am glad about the fact that Gina chose my photo. I am happy to meet her and to be in a creative place today. Gina surprised me because she was very cute and frank."
Gina commented on her photo. " This photo reminds me of old Italian movies." However, Ms.Tanaka was inspired by a movie "Female Tax Inspector" .
"I took this photo at the land after hiewadai baseball field in Fukuoka and its view inspired me, mm this is "Female Tax Inspector" ! I cut Blythe' s hair before I took this picture. The sunglass is Cosmo afternoon. I love Blythe because she shows various facial expressions depending on styling."

Ms.Yamamoto also lives in Fukuoka. She took a day off and came to Tokyo the day before the event was held. She enjoyed shopping in Harajuku before she came here. "I took this photo with my mother' s single-lens reflex camera. It was the first time for me to use this camera but I have managed to control the exposure. I put an orange cellophane on the lens and created a soft sunset like mood. I have four Neo-Blythes and one vintage Blythe. I draw designs and make dresses. I bring Blythe with me when I go out. Recently I made a Santa Claus outfit for Christmas!" |

A couple took this photo together, using the wife' s Blythe as a model. She collects Blythe. "We are surprised to be selected. The idea came from "Alice In Wonderland" . We made this room with cardboard. We tried several poses and this one was the best. The good thing about Blythe is that she is very photogenic. She always comes out cute no matter how we take the pictures. Our favorite place for shooting is Yokohama. We usually take photos in Ishikawa-cho and in China Town." |
