Princess a la mode at Omotesando Hills

The Second Annual Blythe Beauty Contest took place on June 29, 2007 at the Omotesando Hills in Tokyo.

Judging this event were: novelist, Mr. Novala Takemoto; chief designer of Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Ms. Kumiko Uehara; Editor in Chief of Dollybird Magazine, Ms. Yoko Suzuki; Editor in Chief of Dolly Dolly Magazine, Ms. Chieko Konaka; Editor in Chief of bean's Magazine, Ms. Ayumi Saito; customizing artist, @nai; photographer, Gina Garan; and Blythe Creative Producer (CWC) Ms. Junko Wong.

The semi-finalists for the two-part Blythe Beauty Contest were selected based on their entry photographs, stories, and concept.

The semi-finalists for Natural Beauty were: Hey Little Girl, Team SAMPOO, BHC Group, Blue Scissors, Blythe of Finland, Puppy Love, Question.37, Mindtrigger Returns, and Precocious Candy.

The semi-finalists for the Special Beauty category for customized dolls were: (SS+R)P, H-EM, Bubu JoJo, IxTee Creation, momoringo x kobana_sweet_graphic, Strawberry House, and Ikasama Cabaret

We were very excited to see how many entries there were from around the world. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Greece, Finland, Thailand, Argentina, Canada, Singapore, USA and Japan were represented in this competition -- it truly felt like the Blythe Olympics!

All the Semi-Finalists made three-minute, private presentations to the judges. This was chance for the judges to have an up-close and personal look at these Blythe. Each contestant shared the details that made their Blythe unique. Each judge was given a maximum of 50 points to award each contestant. This was a very exciting time for everyone.

When the doors of the Omotesando Hills event Space O opened, the audience poured in. Many had their own Blythe with them, all dressed up for the fashion show.

The show started with a performance by members of the amazing Japanese band, "Bahashishi". Yurari and Asuka performed, "Oasis" their new single slated to be released in fall of 2007. Yurari's strong and moving voice created an emotional moment for all in attendance.

The contest began thereafter, which each team taking to the catwalk to present their unique creations. The judges and audience admired the beautiful one-of-a-kind Blythes. This was an important part of the competition.

After the Beauty Contestants made their presentations, the Annual Blythe Charity Fashion show began! 58 dolls styled by world esteemed designers hit the runway. Some of the notable creations included: Christian Lacroix, Paul & Joe, Antik Batik, Repetto among many more.

After the fashion show, CWC Creative Producer Junko Wong and the winners from the 2006 Beauty Contest announced the finalists for 2007! This year, the voice of the Japanese Blythe fans would help decide who the Grand Prix winners would be. A ballot box was placed in the event hall at Omotesando Hills for everyone. Members of the Japanese Blythe mobile phone site also had the chance to vote, with a program that allowed just one vote per person.

The Grand Prix winner of the Natural Beauty category will embark on the one-year journey of making their design a real, manufactured Blythe doll for Asia with the Grand Prix winner of the Special Beauty category the cover girl for a Blythe photo book!

After one week of voting, the winners were announced.

With our very international mix we are thank all of the contestants for participating and we congratulate the Grand Prix and Finalists! This is only the second year for the Blythe Beauty contest and we see that this will continue to grow. We are honored at the amazing turn out and generosity from all of the teams who donated their dolls to charity.
